If you haven’t seen Chip and Joanna Gaines’ HGTV show Fixer Upper, it’s difficult to picture a home repair show that has spawned a brand that includes everything from an eatery to an entire province of decor shops, all centered around some disused farming machinery.
Magnolia Market, a.k.a. Magnolia, a.k.a. the Silos, is precisely that.
Here’s what to do at Magnolia Silos if you are a Fixer Upper fan organizing your own Magnolia-themed vacation, or simply a Texan interested in this home-decor-centered explosion in Waco.
Things to Do at the Magnolia Silos in Waco, TX
Take A Look Around The Magnolia Market
While the whole Silos complex is officially known as “Magnolia Market at the Silos,” we’re talking about the main store there–the one that started it all.
The flagship home goods store simply referred to as “Magnolia,” is a must-see attraction for visitors to the Silos.
Silos Baking Co. Offers A Sweet Tooth
Silos Baking Co. is one of the most popular destinations in the Silos District, housed in a 100-year-old structure right adjacent to the iconic silos.
Chip and Joanna Gaines have a personal connection to the bakery, which is filled with Joanna’s favorite recipes, just like the rest of Magnolia in Waco. Their cupcakes are particularly well-known, but everything on the menu is delectable. If you’re attending on a hot day, we suggest arriving early (they’re open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday). Lines can be really long here, especially during weekends!
Inside The Old Church, Take A Look Around
This lovely chapel was erected (in a separate part of Waco) in 1894 and remained abandoned for a few decades before drawing the attention of Chip and Joanna Gaines.
They not only acquired the church but also relocated it to the Waco Silos for restoration. While not every portion of the original church made it to its new home–unfortunately, the original structure proved to be physically unsound–the Old Church as it stands now is a lovely tribute to Waco a century ago.
If you’re looking for the greatest things to do in Waco, make sure to visit this church.
Take A Glance Around (Wiffle) ballpark
When you’re traveling with kids who need to run around and let off steam… or are you still a kid at heart?
Enjoy a game of Wiffle Ball in the shade of the Silos while you’re out shopping!
