Help Needed In Locating Missing Opelousas Man, Car Found Abandoned

A man from Opelousas, Louisiana, remains missing. His car was found abandoned, and police are asking people to help in locating the man.

The man is Wildred Kinnerson III, 36. He has been missing since Oct. 5, and people reported him missing after failing to return home after a trip. He reportedly came from Bastrop and was not heard from for a while. The trip is a little over three hours from Opelousas.

Police Discovers His Vehicle Three Days Later

Opelousas police found the vehicle of Kinnerson on Oct. 8 in the 600 block of N. Market St. in Opelousas. KLFY quoted Opelousas Police Chief Martin McLendon, saying, “As of this time, it cannot be determined if any foul play occurred in relation to Mr. Kinnerson’s disappearance. Investigators are currently using all resources at their disposal to attempt and locate Mr. Kinnerson.”

Police Ask The Public For Help

The police and St. Laundry Parish Crime Stoppers recently announced that they needed the public’s help to locate Kinnerson. Detective Michael Hidalgo of the Opelousas Police Department shared that Kinnerson, also known as “Sweetie,” is 5 foot 10 and weighs around 200 pounds.

KATC reported that he initially traveled to Dallas and Los Angeles on Oct. 1. He returned to Bastrop on Oct. 4, and people last spoke to him by phone on Oct. 4 at around 10:35 P.M. People also talked to him through text at around 11:45 P.M. It is unclear who the people he spoke to during these times were.

KATC further reported that he was last seen in a silver 2016 Cadillac CT6 with Texas license plate number NPN9232. The vehicle was spotted on Oct. 5 between 11:00 P.M. and 12:00 MN on North Market Street with several black men inside. However, police said he was no longer in the vehicle. Days later, they found his vehicle abandoned and found out his home was ransacked.
