A 6-year-old boy who was kidnapped Thursday night from his mother’s vehicle has been found by the Pearland Police Department.

According to detectives, Amari Danial Baylor was located safely with his biological father. An Amber Alert issued for his whereabouts has been canceled.

According to the detectives, they tried to get in contact with the boy’s father, Anthony Lamont Baylor Jr., before locating the boy. Detectives also confirmed that the FBI was involved with the case, Click 2 Houston reported.

The kidnapping incident happened Thursday when Amari’s mother reported to police that she together with her three children were at the Westside Event Center at 2150 Place Parkway at around 7:50 p.m. to inquire about cheerleading and football programs for her kids. The mother got out of her car together with her daughter, leaving her two children in the vehicle.

Two women who claim to have been in the area said they saw another Black woman, in her late 20s-30s with long straight black hair, 5ft and 9 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, and wearing an orange shirt, taking a child from a white Chevrolet Malibu’s driver side rear window.

The suspected kidnapper got into a silver or gray SUV with the child then drove out of the parking lot, southbound on Country Place Parkway.

According to police, the witnesses were unable to get the license plate number but remembered orange characters on the plate. Detectives did not say if anyone will be charged with the kidnapping incident since Amari was found safe.

The 6-year-old is currently staying with his father since there are no court orders that inhibit the father from having his child.
