A man from Texas is now charged with capital murder in the death of three women in South Padre Island. The suspect is 23-year-old Yordi Barthelemy and is accused of fatally shooting three women Saturday night.
Police reports stated that the officers responded to reports about a family disturbance at a condominium on the resort island at around 10 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found three women dead from gunshot wounds. They all belonged to the same family and were identified as 46-year-old Odalys Hernandez, 47-year-old Zulema Hernandez-Napoles, and 65-year-old Sandra Napoles.
Barthelemy was not found on the scene as he initially fled. However, he later contacted authorities and subsequently turned himself in. He was arrested in Port Isabel, across the water from South Padre Island. The victims, on the other hand, were Houston natives.
It is unclear how Barthelemy is related to the victims, but officials said he is not from the area. He lives in Kerens, which is a city more than 500 miles north of South Padre Island. The motive in the killings is also unclear.
Barthelemy is now being held without bond.
