A 17-year-old boy died and four others were injured late Friday in a single-car crash on Interstate 20 in Grand Prairie, police said.
According to reports from various news sites, a single car was reportedly speeding at about 10:14 p.m. along Interstate 20 in Grand Prairie, when the driver of the car seemed to have lost control of the vehicle.
It then hit a guardrail on the interstate near State Highway 161, resulting in the fatal car crash, police said, Dallas Morning News reported.
Officers said that the car had five occupants. All of them were hurt in the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital.
One of the five passengers of the speeding car, a 17-year-old boy named Derrick Hall, sustained severe injuries from the accident. He died from his injuries after reaching the hospital. His name was released later by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office after they notified the next of kin of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the other four occupants also sustained injuries, but non-life-threatening. They are expected to survive the accident, officials said.
No other names were released other than that of the deceased, and the investigators also didn’t provide more information about the crash.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
