A mom and a teenager from Fresno, California, were arrested in connection to the killing of a 14-year-old girl named Breanna Gomez. Gomez was killed last January.
The Fresno Police Department officials did not reveal why they arrested the boy and his mother, 42-year-old Maria Gonzalez. All they said was that the two are connected to the death of Gomez.
The mother was charged as an accessory to murder for her reported involvement. Gonzalez is lodged at the Fresno County Jail, while her son is at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus. The son’s details will not be revealed as he is a minor.
Gomez died on January 3 after she left a party with her friends at around 1 a.m. Later, the group was attacked with gunshots.
When officials went to the Maple and Shaw avenues in the area, they saw Gomez and a 15-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Gomez and the male were rushed to a hospital in the area, but Gomez succumbed to her injuries. The male victim, on the other hand, survived after being in critical condition.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who has information about the shooting of Gomez is asked to call Homicide Detective Josh Alexander at 559-621-2445 or Detective Vic Miranda at 559-621-2452.
