A man from Austin, Texas, was arrested as he reportedly tried to break into his female neighbor’s home Sunday.
Austin Police Department said in a statement that the officers responded near the 900 block of Keith Lane, near Red River Street, at around 2 a.m. When officers and Austin SWAT arrived, the woman was able to escape and the man returned to his apartment.
Residents were then asked to shelter in place as SWAT made contact with the man — who was believed to be armed. After refusing to comply with orders, SWAT crews entered the home and detained him at around 5.50 a.m.
The man’s motive for trying to break into the female neighbor’s home is unclear. The charges against the man, if any, have also not been released by officials.
After the man was arrested and no threat was determined, the shelter in place for the residents in the area was lifted.
