A child sex crime suspect led law enforcement officials on a chase Tuesday morning. The man was being stopped for a traffic violation, but he fled to evade detention.
The man was identified as Roderick Jermaze Spurlock, 41. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers initially tried to pull him over for a traffic violation on Main Street in Buffalo Gap around 7:30 a.m. but he sped off.
Witnesses said that they saw law enforcement vehicles going after the car that Spurlock was driving. They even put spike strips on the roads to stop him. He was finally arrested as he drove at an intersection near his home at Sycamore Street and S 19th Street.
The man is now being held in the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling more than $150,000. He was arrested based on the child sex crime warrant, driving without a valid license, and evading arrest. The details regarding the child sex crime he is a suspect of were not revealed by police.
