Not one resident from a small town in Texas thought that they’re living with a fugitive on the loose until after law enforcement operatives came to arrest a 36-year old man believed to have shot and killed a woman from Sacramento early this month.
The police identified the suspect as Arviel Robertson. He was arrested in Nacogdoches, Texas, a small town 200 miles southeast of Dallas.
In a press statement, the Sacramento Police Department said that police officers were deployed on July 2 following a distress call regarding gunshots near the Capitol Casino. Responding policemen, however, failed to catch the suspect upon arrival at the scene of the crime.
But they were able to find a severely wounded woman, who was immediately taken to the hospital where she died three days after. Despite missing the gunman, Sacramento Police Department nonetheless was able to identify the gunman, who later turned out to be Robertson.
“Robertson was located in Nacogdoches, Texas and was arrested by an outside agency,” read the press statement by the police. Robertson remains in Texas while the extradition process is being worked out. He will be charged with homicide once extradited back to Sacramento.
The victim’s identity remains withheld but the Sacramento Police Department issued an appeal for witnesses to step forward or contact them at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
