TEXAS CITY, Texas (Texasbreaking.com) -Texas City Police shared on social media that they responded to a welfare concern Thursday night around 6:15 p.m. at Pointe Ann Apartments. Officers said they found three small children, deceased, around 5 years old and younger, and a woman with a severe gunshot wound to the head.
Police mention in a press release that the woman is being treated at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and was presently stable.
However with her condition, she’s currently unable to share information with them about the incident.
According to the Texas City Police Department Facebook page, Junaid Hashim Mehmood, 27, was taken into custody late Thursday night.
Chron.com reports that “Mehmood dialed authorities at 10:17 p.m. and identified himself as the wanted man in the news reports. He allegedly said he killed his children and tried to kill his wife, a police official said. He gave his address and said he was unarmed.”
“He has a rap sheet with multiple arrests in Galveston and Harris County since 2010, records show.”
“He was arrested for hitting a girlfriend in 2014 and served 20 days in jail for that offense. The conditions of his sentencing made it illegal for him to possession a firearm, according to court documents.”
“In 2015, Mehmood was arrested after shoving a family member and robbing him. He was sentenced that same year to serve three years after pleading guilty to a separate robbery charge.”
This is a developing story. We will update as new details are learned,
