CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (TexasBreaking.com) – A 17-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle as he and his two passengers attempted to push their stalled sedan down South Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi on Sunday morning, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.

The accident occurred in the 4700 block of SPID just before 4:30 a.m. after the Honda Civic, driven by the 17-year-old, stalled going eastbound.

The sedan was struck on the driver’s side as the three occupants pushed the Civic down the access road, said Senior Officer Travis Pace.

The 17-year-old driver was on the side that the other car hit. The other two individuals were not injured.

Beeville ISD identified the victim as Justin Miguel Salcido. The district said he was an A.C. Jones High School student.

A social media post by Beeville ISD reads, “Please continue to keep Justin’s family in your prayers as they are needed more than ever at this time. We ask that you respect the privacy of families involved as they mourn this devastating loss.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Justin Salcido’s family during this time.
