SINTON – Tawana Roberson, a mother accused of murdering her 4-year-old son on February 21, has been charged with capital murder.
Gregory police were called to Portland where a child, identified as Kane McCraney, had been admitted to an emergency center. After his heart stopped beating, medical staff performed CPR on the child but he was later pronounced dead.
The child had multiple marks and scratches on him according to Gregory Police Chief J.A. “Tony” Cano, adding that Roberson denied injuring her child saying that the injuries could have come from other children her son was playing with.
Roberson is the mother of seven other children from 10 months old to 7 years old. Those children were taken into custody by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Tawana has a bond set at $400,000.
