Border Patrol agents seize close to a million dollars of Methamphetamine near Laredo

LAREDO, Texas- It has been reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection that over 25 pounds of methamphetamine were seized by Border Patrol agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 59 near Freer on October 18.

The statement released by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection says that Border Patrol agents were questioning the driver of a white Chevrolet Aveo sedan of their immigration status when a service canine alerted agents to the smell of narcotics and/or concealed humans.

After a secondary examination, it was discovered that the sedan contained a false compartment in the front bumper. Upon investigating the compartment, agents found 45 bundles of positively tested methamphetamine weighing 25.61 pounds with an estimated value of more than $973,940.

Once the narcotics were identified, the Mexican citizen was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Border Patrol seized the vehicle.
