BANDERA, Tx. (HCBN)- A woman by the name of Shelly Marie Reigel, 39, passed away on Thursday, November 27 after police say she fell out of a vehicle near Bandera. She sustained a critical head injury during the fall and later died at University Hospital in San Antonio.
Jason Reyes, public information officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said she was sitting in the passenger seat of a 2006 Dodge traveling east on Northeast Drive when the accident occurred.
Reigel held jobs at Boulderdash Cabin and RV Park and TJ’s at The Old Forge restaurant in Bandera.
TJ’s General Manager and Executive Chef Zachary Poteat told San Antonio Express-News, “She was super positive. Everybody has their problems in life, but unless you knew Shelly personally, you would never know that she was having a bad day. Words can’t explain her personality. She definitely made every day the best she could, for herself and everybody around her.”
Poteat added, “Everybody’s going to miss her. The restaurant industry, it gets very hectic, but she was always smiling and laughing everything off.”
Reigel was a mother to four children and had recently moved to Texas from Wisconsin.
A GoFundMe campaign was set up by her mother to help with Shelly’s memorial service. If anyone wishes to donate, please click here.
An investigation of the accident is currently underway and is being performed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
