FREDERICKSBURG, TX- A scam was recently reported in a press release from the Fredericksburg Police Department. Officers say that a local mother received a call from someone claiming to have abducted her daughter and she was being held for ransom.
The mother traveled to HEB with the intention of electronically wiring a few thousand dollars for the ransom request.
FPD Bike Patrol officers were able to locate the woman’s daughter within minutes. She was walking on Main Street, which is where she was supposed to be, according to the police.
The daughter and the friends she was with were not aware of any suspicious activity happening. Shortly after, she was released to her mother.
The FPD is currently investigating this incident as a scam and urges the public to be aware of calls like this one.
