San Antonio Awaiting CDC Guidelines To Vaccinate Children From 5 to 11 Years

The White House said on Wednesday that youngsters aged 5 to 11 would be vaccinated, according to KSAT.com.

The present administration announced that it has procured enough COVID-19 vaccines to vaccinate 28 million children and that immunizations will be administered at over 25,000 pediatric and primary care provider sites.

More than 125 percent of Texas residents are between the ages of 15 and 11. Following the return of face-to-face sessions, the number of pediatric COVID-19 cases has risen to new heights, prompting parents to have their children vaccinated. While children over the age of 12 have received the Pfizer vaccination since earlier this spring, clinical studies for younger youngsters have only recently concluded.

Availability Of Vaccine for Children Ages 5 to 11

San Antion Report says The timing will be determined following an FDA vaccine advisory meeting on October 26 to review the COVID-19 vaccine’s emergency use authorization for this age group.

States and cities will be allowed to begin purchasing child-sized doses of the vaccine. Still, they will have to wait for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s official recommendation on the vaccine distribution process.

Moderna and Phizer Are Target Brands to Use for Vaccination

Dr. Mandie Svatek, a pediatric hospitalist at University Health and associate professor at UT Health San Antonio, emphasized that the CDC and FDA needed to ensure no more adverse vaccination events after the vaccines were administered.

Pfizer has vaccinated more than 2.200 children between the ages of 5 and 11 in clinical trials. The outcome was good because the children were able to develop a strong antibody response to the virus.
Two doses of vaccine were given three weeks apart, with each dosage being only a third of the adult dose.

Although the Moderna vaccine is still in clinical trials in the United States, it has already been approved in Europe for children aged 5 to 11.
