AUSTIN – Starting Monday, June 10th, near Lake Travis, a road closure starts as of 9 a.m. that can cause some difficulty for motorists.
The LCRA plans to upgrade one of the transmission lines, for this process to take place they will have to shut down the RM 620 bridge next to the Mansfield Dam. Drivers are asked to plan alternate routes and expect delays.
Multiple pieces of equipment, including a helicopter, will be used to remove the old and outdated fiber from the transmission line, according to LCRA.
The removal of the fiber is one of the final upgrade steps the transmission line among the LCRA’s Marshall Ford Substation and Austin Energy’s Lakeway Tap.
Starting at 9 a.m. traffic in both directions will be stopped for 15 minutes at a time while crews work on the upgrade, this work will run until noon.
