Assault turns into shooting early Wednesday morning

AUSTIN – Wednesday morning, around 1:30 a.m., police received a call about a shooting that was taking place in the 5800 block of Zachary Scott Street and Dimitrios Drive. According to police, the incident started when two people who happened to know each other began arguing, the argument escalated and one of them pulled out a gun.



One of the two men was shot during the argument, he was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. He had non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital around 5:30 a.m.

According to officials, police are still looking for the other party in the altercation, the Air1 helicopter, and K9 units to help establish a perimeter around the shooting. Police are talking to witnesses as the investigation continues and ask if anyone has any information to please come forward.



At this time the intersection of Zachary Scott Street and Dimitrios Drive is currently closed while the investigation is underway. Police state they do not believe there is any danger to the public.
