UPDATE: Child dies after attempting to jump over locked apartment pool fence

FORT WORTH – Monday, May 6th, police were called to the Labera Palm Apartments around 7.pm. According to police, a group of children climbed over the locked pool area fence when approached by the building security guard, enforcing them to leave, the kids scattered and hopped back over the locked fence.



Police stated that at this time young Pierre Mwenge, age 11, lost his footing on the fence, and was speared by the iron rods of the fence. The boy was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, but it was confirmed later according to staff that he had died as a result.

Police stated that no criminal charges will be filed in the death of the young Mwenge. Mwenge was attempting to jump over the rod iron fence, the fence as over 6 feet tall and made with decorative spikes at the top.



Fort Worth Police Officer Bradly Perez tells the Star-Telegram that the boy’s death is considered “an extremely unfortunate accident” and no charges will be expected.
