SAN ANTONIO – New details have been released after the murder of 53-year-old Mary Dempsey on Tuesday.
Along with Mary’s son Matthew Dempsey, 18, a second person, Daniel Saucedo, 18, has been charged in her death.
Matthew Dempsey allegedly told officers that he and Saucedo went to rob his mother’s house and while they were gathering items, she arrived, according to an arrest affidavit.
The document added that as Mary turned on the lights, Dempsey stated that the two started to attack his mother with baseball bats when a kitchen knife was taken from the kitchen to cut her throat. Mary was then bound with duct tape and covered with a blanket.
The two 18-year-olds then stole her credit cards and fled the scene in her vehicle.
A search by officers at the home where he was arrested on West Military Drive. During the search, the vehicle was found, along with a black trash bag with clothing that appeared to have blood droplets.
Matthew Dempsey and Daniel Saucedo have been charged with murder.
