One dead after shooting in North Austin

AUSTIN – According to police shooting spree has left a man dead from gunshot wounds, this is the second type of incident in the city to happen within hours of each other.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. along the 5800 block of Interstate 35 North. Police responded to a call of multiple shots fired outside the La Quinta Inn at North IH 35, near the U.S. 290/Koenig Lane interchange.

When they arrived, the police discovered two people inflicted from bullet wounds, they were later transported to the hospital for critical injuries. One of the victims, a 38-year-old man, later died from the injuries he sustained during the ordeal.

While the investigation was still underway at the scene, police responded to East Riverside Drive in reports of a vehicle abandoned that was possibly connected to the shooting. At the location, the police discovered a black Dodge Charger. With witness statements and investigating the police learned the suspect is a black man and he is still wanted at this time.

This shooting was the second to happen in Austin early Wednesday after a body was discovered in Givens Park in East Austin five hours prior. The body is identified as Andre Lanier Davis Jr., age 47. The police believe he may have been a target in a robbery, a suspect, in that case, has yet to be located.
