Woman dies after large rock goes through windshield, authorities search for unknown suspect

TEMPLE – Police are looking for an unknown suspect involved in a woman’s death after having a rock thrown into her vehicle from a railroad track overpass while she was traveling with her family.



The victim, identified by Temple Police as Keila Ruby Flores, 33, was traveling with four other passengers, on March 9 at approximately 8:41 p.m. Flores was sitting in the front passenger seat while traveling northbound on IH-35 between exits 303 and 305.

Temple Police reported, “Someone threw a large rock from the railroad track overpass onto the highway. The rock struck and entered the vehicle’s windshield, making contact with [Flores] causing significant injuries.”



Flores later died from her injuries at 10:32 a.m. on March 10 after being transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital. An autopsy was ordered by officials.

It was explained by TPD that there is currently no suspect information and anyone that can identify this suspect is urged to call the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500.
