WISE COUNTY, Texas (TexasBreaking.com) – Deputies with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call when they discovered four children living malnourished in a barn, two were said to be locked in a dog cage.
Upon responding to the call on February 11 at the home near Rhome on County Road 4930 around 7 a.m., deputies found Andrew Joseph Fabila, 24, and Paige Isabow Harkings, 24. Fabila appeared to have cuts on his face, possibly the result of a fight the two were having.
As authorities were speaking with the man and woman, one of the deputies heard and then found four children in the barn on the property.
The children were ages five, four, three, and one. The five-year-old and the four-year-old, according to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office, were locked inside of a 3′ by 3′ dog kennel. All of the children appeared to be malnourished and covered in feces and urine.
Although there was food in the barn, deputies reported that the refrigerator and the cabinets were locked so the children couldn’t get in.
Wise County Jail records show that both Fabila and Harkings were each charged with four counts of criminal child endangerment.
Harkings was also charged with aggravated assault.
The children are said to be in the custody of Child Protective Services. Their current conditions are unknown.
