CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (TexasBreaking.com)- Two suspects, including Corpus Christi local criminal defense attorney John R. Perry, 66, were arrested on January 30 on multiple charges after an evidentiary search warrant was executed on the attorney’s residence in the 15000 block of Cruise Street.
The search warrant was said to be the culmination of a year-long joint investigation between the Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics & Vine Investigations Division and the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office.
After arriving at Perry’s residence around 8 a.m., NVID Officers detained him and found him in possession of a small amount of a controlled substance. Perry was then placed under arrest, reported CCPD.
CCPD also stated, “During the execution of the search warrant, Narcotics Investigators found and seized an additional small quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from inside the residence, along with other items of evidence.”
John R. Perry was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony punishable by between two and twenty years in prison, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.
Maria Torres, 48, was also arrested during the raid, added CCPD. It was said that Investigators discovered she had an outstanding Motion to Revoke warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Torres was also found to have a small quantity of suspected Methamphetamine. She received additional charges after the discovery.
There is still an ongoing investigation by NVID Detectives and Investigators with the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office and additional charges are possible for both suspects.
