FREDERICKSBURG, TX – On Monday morning, October 15, 2018, Paola Lizzethe Guzman Aguilar, age 22, was found unresponsive by her family members at her apartment located in the 400 block of East Walnut Street. After Aguilar was transported by EMS to Hill Country Memorial Hospital, she was pronounced dead, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.
Along with Aguilar, her three-year-old child was found at the scene and it was said that the child appeared to be in good health and after a check-up at Hill Country Memorial, the child was released to their grandparent’s custody.
After an initial investigation, it was revealed that it was possible that a struggle took place. The family members of the deceased were suspicious of Aguilar’s estranged boyfriend, identified as Ramiro Garcia Flores, age 21.
Flores is believed, by officers, to be in the United States illegally from Mexico but this information is still under investigation.
Police said, “[The] family advised that the two had recently broken off relations, but a witness observed him driving near the scene earlier that morning.”
The press release by the FPD also adds, “On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, Flores made contact with a third party in Atascosa County and confessed to strangulating Aguilar. The third party contacted the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department who responded to their location and took Flores into custody. He again recounted the incident to investigators with the Atascosa Sheriff’s Department and confessed to strangulating Aguilar and leaving the child at the scene.”
An autopsy was performed at Central Texas Autopsy in Lockhart, Texas and the results are still pending.
An arrest warrant was issued for Flores by the Fredericksburg Police Department. The charges against him, as stated by the FPD, include Murder, a first-degree felony (Texas Penal Code 19.01). Flores currently has a bond set at $1 million by Justice of the Peace Carl Schoessow.
As more details are released, this report will be updated.
