A Tejano singer from San Antonio was hospitalized following a terrible crash near Winters, Texas, resulting in the deaths of three people, including a child, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
How many were injured in the accident?
After a head-on crash on Sunday night, Javier Galvan, the former lead singer of Tejano band Fama, is in a critical state, according to DPS.
An initial crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety stated that an SUV, driven by Galvan, was traveling east on SH 153, while another SUV carrying five people, driven by Marisa B. Ramos of Plainview, was traveling west around 10.19 p.m. Sunday night.
As per accounts, Ramos, and two of her companions — 7-year-old Adalynn Muniz and 46-year-old Cissy Ramos — died in the collision.
DPS troopers reported a two-vehicle collision on Texas 153 roughly around 10.20 p.m., some 6 miles west of Winters and 200 miles northwest of San Antonio.
How did the collision take place?
Galvan was simply passing multiple vehicles in his Chevrolet Tahoe before he collided head-on with Ramos’ car, DPS officials said. Her car went up in flames right away, killing three people on board.
Two more minors, aged 9 and 12, who were found in Ramos’ car were sent to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene in a critical condition. Galvan was also taken to the same hospital and is currently in a critical state.
Authorities claim that Galvan was wearing his seat belt, but they’ve not established whether the other passengers did.
From the year 1989 to 2009, Galvan was the lead vocalist of the award-winning Latin group. When he retired, he signed over the name of the group to his bandmates. He then started a ministry in San Antonio and is also the host of his radio show called “La Fe Cafe con Javier Galvan.”
