The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office has said that a 22-year-old woman has died and a search for a missing man was stopped for the night after the two were reported missing in the Guadalupe River. The rescue operation resumed in the morning, officials said.
Divers found Casandra Kendrick in the river under the water’s surface around 8.45 p.m., stated a press release. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Responders temporarily halted their search for the missing man after 10 p.m., the GCSO said.
The person’s identity was not revealed out of consideration for his family, according to the sheriff’s office.
Rescue operation for two individuals
The Seguin Gazette had earlier reported that a rescue was ongoing for the two individuals who went missing in the Guadalupe River after saving two toddlers who got stuck in the river. The incident occurred in the river at the FM 1117 bridge shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities told the Seguin Gazette that a man was with his three children in the middle of the river, while a woman was also there with another social group when the mishap took place.
According to the daily, two youngsters got caught in the river and the man went after them in order to help. He saved them and handed them over to the woman. But soon the man began to struggle and the woman went inside the river after him, officials said. None of the two resurfaced as of yet, said the report.
