US Highway 287 Partially Closed After Tractor-Trailer Incident

Fort Worth traffic police have announced that a section of the US Highway 287 in Fort Worth, Texas, was closed off following an accident in the area Monday.

The Forth Worth police department issued a traffic alert warning motorists that the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 287 and Bonds Ranch Road were closed off following an accident early Monday morning. Photo credit: Texas Tribune

The incident occurred around 3.30 a.m. when an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer fell off the overpass. The tractor-trailer went off course to the side of the road before it fell off the overpass, and crash onto the ground below Bonds Ranch Road. The authorities said that the accident also involved a semi.

Though both the semi and the trailer were wrecked, police announced that the driver managed to get out of the trailer safely. There was no information on whether he sustained any injuries at all during the incident.

The authorities from the Fort Worth Police Department had then closed off both north and southbound lanes as they continue to investigate and clear the roads of debris following the accident.

Fort Worth police also posted the traffic alert over at Twitter, saying: #TrafficAlert Northbound and Southbound sides of NW Highway 287 at Bonds Ranch Road are closed.”

In a recent update, both north and southbound lanes of the highway were reopened at around 7.30 a.m. and can now be used. No other information was revealed to the public regarding the incident.
