Harris County deputies are currently investigating a shooting incident that left a man dead after a fight broke out at a bar on Airline Drive in north Harris County on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called to the bar to stop a fight. When they arrived, they reportedly found a dead man who sustained a gunshot wound in the chest, ABC 13 reported.
According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the man was pronounced dead on the spot.
Sgt. Jason Brown from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that the fight broke out between the victim and several other individuals. He did not clarify what the fight was about or how the shooting started.
The Harris County police did say that one of the other individuals involved in the fight pulled out a gun and fired multiple times, killing the man on the spot.
Authorities also said that they have reasons to believe that the victim, the suspect, and others involved in the fight knew each other.
According to Sgt. Brown, the deputies are still interviewing witnesses to better identify both the suspect and the victim. They did find out that the suspect fled the scene while driving a black Hummer.
The authorities are seeking the public’s help in finding out more information regarding the fatal shooting incident.
Sheriff Ed Gonzales also posted the details of the incident on Twitter, saying: “@HCSOTexas units are investigating a shooting at a bar located at 10405 Airline Drive. Upon arrival, units discovered an adult male had been shot in the chest. The male was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. The suspect fled the scene in a black Hummer. #HouNews”
