Philadelphia authorities are currently in pursuit of a detained individual who managed to evade law enforcement’s grasp and flee from a hospital while still in handcuffs. The escapee, identified as Alleem Bordan, aged 29, was under custody for an alleged car theft when the incident occurred. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore of the Philadelphia Police provided details during a press briefing, stating that the occurrence unfolded around 6:42 a.m. on Monday, as Bordan made his getaway during the discharge process at Episcopal Hospital.
Efforts to locate Bordan were swiftly initiated following his escape, with law enforcement launching what Vanore described as an “intense search.” Despite these endeavors, Bordan remains at large, prompting heightened vigilance across the area. In response to the unfolding situation, certain educational institutions in the vicinity were temporarily placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. However, as the search progressed and immediate threats were assessed, these lockdowns were subsequently lifted.
According to Vanore, Bordan’s recent encounter with the authorities stemmed from an accusation of car theft, wherein he purportedly seized a vehicle from a delivery driver. During the processing of his arrest, Bordan purportedly voiced complaints of physical discomfort or injury, prompting law enforcement to adhere to protocol and transport him to a medical facility for assessment. Following a medical evaluation, Bordan was cleared and subsequently discharged from the hospital.
Bordan’s history reveals a series of prior encounters with law enforcement dating back to 2016, characterized by charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and weapons-related offenses, as documented in official records.
Authorities have issued a call to the public for assistance in locating Bordan, urging individuals who may encounter him to promptly contact emergency services by dialing 911. As the search intensifies, law enforcement remains committed to ensuring the swift and safe apprehension of the fugitive, prioritizing the safety and security of the community at large.
