Little Elm Mayor’s Son Arrested For Stabbing Two Men At A Restaurant In Texas

Little Elm’s mayor’s son has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of two men at a restaurant at Grandscape on Thursday night, according to police in The Colony.

Police say that Christian James Cornelious, 20, is accused of assaulting the men at Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails shortly after 6.30 p.m. Reacting to the incident, Mayor Curtis Cornelious said: “Like many, I am shocked and saddened at the events that occurred involving my son.”
“I remain prayerful for all involved,” he was quoted as saying by CBS 11 (KTVT-TV) in a statement.
Witnesses told police that the suspect, later identified as Cornelious, stabbed two men with a knife multiple times then fled the area on foot, the report said.
According to a statement released by the police department, officers who were in the area received Cornelious description and later located him. They also said that he resisted commands and ran away. Officers took him into custody outside a department store near “a large gathering of other people having dinner and attending an outdoor concert.”

“Officers pursued the suspect and arrested him near a department store where there was also a large gathering of other people having dinner and attending an outdoor concert,” the release stated. “The suspect resisted arrest but was eventually subdued and taken into police custody.”

In a news release, police department said that Cornelious appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and then taken to the Colony Jail afterwards.

Police called the incident was “an isolated case” and that Cornelious posed “no threat or danger to the community.”

Cornelious was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, evading arrest or detention, and a class A misdeameanor.

Police said that the victims were brought to the hospital and were treated. One of the victims were released but the other remained in an intensive care unit with injuries but are not life-threatening.

A spokesman for the Colony Police Department said that it appeared that Cornelious didn’t know the two victims.
