San Antonio might reach lows in the 20s by Tuesday morning. So far this winter, the cold fronts have been relatively mild, with only one documented freeze in San Antonio — and it only dropped to 31 degrees. This is all about to change.
Arctic Air Takes Aim at Texas:
A powerful, arctic cold front will arrive early before sunrise on Monday (1/15). On Monday, temperatures will struggle to reach above freezing, and wind chill values from gusty winds will probably be in the 20s or lower. We’re watching for wintry precipitation, but the chances are slim as of this writing. We will continue to keep you informed about any potential ice.
Those attending San Antonio’s MLK March should prepare for frigid temperatures and even colder wind chill values.
The primary difficulty will be temperatures, especially as they dip into the low 20s in San Antonio on Tuesday morning (January 16). You will want to take measures this weekend, considering the four Ps: pipes, plants, pets, and people. We do not expect this to be a lengthy freeze, with temperatures returning above freezing by Tuesday afternoon. As Martin Luther King Day approaches, we encourage you to check back with us frequently. Expect updates.
