Texas Woman Paralyzed From Robbery: Raises $80K From GoFundMe Campaign!

Texas Woman Paralyzed From Robbery

A GoFundMe campaign for a Texas woman Nhung Truong, a 44-year-old mother of three who was paralyzed from a violent robbery, raised $80,000 in just three days. The incident happened in Houston on February 13, when Truong was attacked by a suspect after withdrawing from a bank. The robbery was caught on surveillance camera, which showed the suspect grabbing Truong and throwing her to the ground before fleeing with the money.

Truong’s daughter, Linh Thuy Duong, started the GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of her mother’s medical treatment and care. Despite applying for financial assistance and seeking support from the community, the recovery time has been extended to over two years or even more, according to a recent update provided by Duong on the page. The family is also worried about the additional costs that might arise, such as hiring home nursing and funding for Truong to attend therapy at a rehabilitation center if she cannot do physical therapy at home.

The suspect was caught on camera wearing a red, white, and black sweatshirt with an Air Jordan “Jumpman” logo, dark shorts, and sneakers, but no arrest has been made in the case over a month later. While Houston police are still searching for the suspect, it will be up to Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg’s office to bring charges if an arrest is made.

However, Attorney Kim Ogg’s office did not immediately return a request for comment on Truong’s case. The Harris County District Attorney has been criticized in the past by the Houston Police Officer’s Union for reducing herself to being a “weak on crime DA.” Despite the lack of progress in the case, the community has rallied behind Truong and her family, providing them with hope and generosity during this difficult time.

Truong’s case highlights the importance of community support for victims of violent crime. Despite the trauma and financial burden that Truong’s family is facing, the outpouring of support and donations through the GoFundMe campaign has given them hope and strength to face the challenges ahead. It is also a reminder of the importance of ensuring that justice is served for victims of violent crime. As the search for the suspect continues, the community remains hopeful that Truong will get the justice she deserves, and that her recovery will be supported every step of the way.
