Mexican Cartel Turnovers 5 Suspects Responsible for Kidnapping, Killing 4 Americans

The five suspected perpetrators of the kidnapping and murder of Americans last week have been turned over by a Mexican cartel after they begged for forgiveness for their misdeeds. According to an alleged letter from the cartel, they turned the suspects over to law enforcement.

The letter was acquired from a state law enforcement official in Tamaulipas who sought to maintain anonymity. The Gulf Cartel’s Scorpion faction expressed regret for the violence toward the people of Matamoros. Also, they pleaded with the relatives of each victim to accept forgiveness.

According to the letter, individuals directly involved in and accountable for the crime lacked discipline and made their own decisions. They had broken the cartel’s rule requiring respect for the innocent’s life and welfare, according to the newsweek.com report.

Sen. Lindsey Graham declared he would abide by the previous president, Trump’s recommendations regarding Mexican policy. After four Americans were abducted by armed men, he is prepared to submit legislation to “set the stage” for American military involvement in Mexico.

Graham said that he would present legislation designating specific Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations under U.S. law, paving the way for the potential deployment of military force. What kind of legislation the Republican lawmaker was recommending was unknown.

US lawmakers call for military intervention in Mexico to combat the drug cartels, but it is seen as a challenge to Mexican national sovereignty by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez. Lopez states no foreign authority will be allowed to interfere with their internal affairs.
