First-time applicants may be eligible for up to 18 months of aid with rent and utility bills, including past-due payments or a combination of past-due and up to three months of current and future payments made on their behalf. Even if you have received help from the program before but have not received the maximum of 18 months of assistance allowed, you can submit an additional funding request using your existing online user account.

However, it is essential to note that all applications will be processed in the order they are received, with priority given to those households facing evictions. TDHCA executive director, Bobby Wilkinson, has advised those applying to gather all necessary paperwork to have them ready by March 14, 2023, when applications will open. According to MSN, after submitting your application, you must remain alert for emails or calls from TDHCA’s representatives who could ask for additional information. Failure to respond could delay the application process.

With the limited application window of March 14 to 28, eligible Texans must act fast and take advantage of this program. By applying for rent relief in Texas, qualified individuals can avoid the risk of eviction and receive the much-needed assistance they require during these challenging times.
