Texas Sen. Ted Cruz Slams Anthony Fauci Over Handling of COVID-19 Pandemic

When participating in a panel discussion with Senator JD Vance at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci for how he handled the COVID-19 outbreak.

On the stage at CPAC, Ted Cruz and Vance participated in a live taping of Cruz’s podcast The Verdict with conservative radio personality Ben Ferguson. Attendees jeered during a clip of Dr. Fauci from the start of the pandemic earlier in the discussion.

The three panelists brought up a report earlier this week from the Department of Energy that suggested COVID-19 most likely originated from a lab in Wuhan. Ferguson responded by inquiring as to whether those in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic, such Dr. Fauci, will face any repercussions.

The video was aired as they compiled articles from both conservative and liberal media mocking the theory that COVID-19 was brought on by a lab leak in the early stages of the pandemic.

The Texas senator claimed that three years prior, in Washington, D.C., at the previous CPAC, he had come into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed under quarantine, preventing him from meeting with campaign contributors at a concert. Vance agreed with the panel’s sentiment. Cruz made a joke about how many scientists believed that a bat was the source of COVID-19 transmission.

Sen. Ted Cruz Urges to Prosecute Fauci

Sen. Ted Cruz called for Dr. Anthony Fauci to be put on trial, telling right-wing activists on Thursday that the nation’s most well-known public health expert misled about the origin of COVID-19 and destroyed lives by urging the closure of businesses and schools and encouraging people to wear masks and get immunized.

Cruz has long criticized Fauci as a despot who lied during a Senate hearing in May 2021 when the then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases denied that the National Institutes of Health had ever funded “gain-of-function research” at China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The such study entails modifying viruses to increase their capacity for transmission. The evidence of US support for this type of study in China, according to independent fact-checkers, is still tenuous.

Since it specializes in the kind of bat-borne illnesses that have killed millions of people in the previous three years, the Wuhan lab has long been accused of being the origin of the pandemic. This suspicion stems from a nearby “wet market” where meat from bats and other species is sold.
