State of Maine Energy Assistance

Applicants can also qualify for additional help if they have less than a three-day supply of heating fuel or are in danger of having their utility services disconnected.

Application Process
The LIHEAP program can provide up to $500 in assistance to eligible residents. The application process varies depending on the county, but there are some mandatory documents that all applicants must provide, according to a published article in The U.S Sun, such as names and Social Security numbers of everyone living in the household, proof of gross household income for the last 30 days or 12 months, proof of present address, and recent copies of energy and utility bills.
