After a failed stimulus package earlier this year, Mojave County Administrator Ron Gould has proposed two new projects for the Fort Mojave area according to The Miner.
Fort Mojave to Receive New COVID Relief Projects
This week, Gould proposed using his $100,000 funding under the US Rescue Plans Act of 2021 to improve facilities at the Fort He Mojave Boys and Girls Club. He also proposed an additional $20,000 project to improve the lighting, maintenance, and repair of the Golden Shores Civic Association facility.

The organization’s administrative offices and facilities in Bullhead City have already received a $250,000 grant for improvements suggested by Hildy Angius, Mojave County District 2 Supervisor earlier this year.
American Rescue Plan For Fort Mojave
According to the proposal, the coronavirus pandemic has put a heavy strain on the organization, which is expanding its services to protect children from potential exposure to the virus. With donations dropping and clubs temporarily closing thrift stores during the pandemic, the organization has been forced to do more with less, according to people familiar with the matter.
Subsidies are being used to withstand the economic impact of the pandemic. Since then, the Fort Mojave organization’s situation has improved, but it continues to primarily serve children from low-income families.
In Golden Shores, the Civic Association relies heavily on volunteers serving the elderly in the area. The Golden Shores Civic Association Community Center hosts community-based programs including events organized in the Golden Shores region such as Meals on Wheels, Bingo Night, Golden Shores/Topock Community Library, and Neighborhood Watch Meetings.
