A Kentucky woman was shot with a shotgun in the head by her boyfriend, who kept the corpse close by after. The family told the cops that they were in an abusive relationship.
Last Thursday, Amberly Harris, 32, was seen in the bedroom of her home in Independence. A call from co-workers led to a well-being check after she did not report for several days to work, reported Fox19.
She was killed by a shot to her head as revealed by the County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders.
According to officers who came upon the scene on that night. They say, Tommy Powell, 55, was in the apartment that night; they added both lived in the flat, Fox 19 Now.
The police report said that Powell admitted he killed his partner with the shotgun earlier but did not call the police. It was thought that Powell was with the dead body in the house for more than a day too.
Sister of Harris, Jessica Mann said that the state of the corpse prevented them from seeing her sister’s body.
She and Mike, her spouse were disconsolate; and the sister reveal that she got to talk to her sister one last time before getting shot.
According to the sister, the deceased wanted to go home on Christmas and surprise her mom.
Furthermore; Harris and Powell were usually on and off for more than two years. Powell is abusive because he would hurt the woman; after picking a fight.
The sister added that videos were taken of the abuse that the man give her.
Added that it got so bad that Harris was not keen on going home; even officemates would offer an extra room to stay in as well.
Later the family told her to seek shelter at a woman’s home, but she feared Powell will not let go of her.
The family says they encouraged Harris to go to a women’s shelter but she never did.
The killer faces a murder charge and domestic violence and is held at the Kenton County Jail on $1 million bail.
