Under a new assistance program, Chicago is providing $500 cash payments to qualified city residents under the Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0, which was announced by the city earlier this year. The application deadline for the most recent round of funding is approaching soon.
One-time $500 Relief Payment
The cash assistance these one-time payments provide goes to Chicago residents who might have missed out on the COVID-19 stimulus. According to a statement from the city, the fund is meant to assist citizens who had trouble obtaining and meeting the requirements for federal assistance in 2020, including COVID-19 Relief Funds.
In the entire city, 25,500 qualified residents may use the assistance. Residents with adult dependents or those who care for adults are the focus of the current round of payments, a source posted.
The Chinese Mutual Aid Foundation and the Association House Chicago are assigned with the application. Qualified must fill out an online application, and winners will be chosen randomly. The winners will have to provide eligibility documentation. Per household, only one application is permitted, and 4,000 winners will be selected.
Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0
The City of Chicago has approved $10.7 million as part of Mayor Lightfoot’s Chicago Recovery Plan to provide emergency cash assistance to residents who were not eligible for prior Federal stimulus relief, including but not limited to residents who meet the income requirements for undocumented residents. These elderly or disabled adults were declared dependent, and young adults were claimed as dependents.
The Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0 seeks to build on this program’s success by offering one-time $500 relief payments to up to 20,000 additional residents. The Department of Family and Support Services is looking for proposals from organizations that can carry out all of the Fund’s designated program administration tasks.
