As the third quarterback in the San Francisco 49ers’ depth chart behind Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the 49ers was not expected to see any substantial playing time this season.
However, with both players sidelined by injuries, the 49ers resorted to Brock Purdy, a first-year player who was selected with the 262nd and final choice of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Capturing Nation’s Interest Of Brock Purdy Beating Tom Brady
San Francisco has just made a significant statement despite the fact that many people have already written off the 49ers as true Super Bowl contenders as a result of this.
According to Fox Sports, the 49ers defeated Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 35-7, with Purdy playing a key role in the victory. Purdy completed 16 of 21 throws for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
As a result of it, Purdy became the only quarterback to defeat Brady while doing it in his very first professional start in the NFL.
In the meantime, Brady is looking at the possibility of losing eight games in a regular season for the first time in his career as a starter after suffering his seventh defeat in the regular season for the first time in twenty years.
Because the situation had deteriorated to such a point, FOX decided to switch the coverage in certain regions of the country to the game between the Panthers and the Seahawks.
Fox Cuts Away From 49-ers-Buccaneers Game
Fox believed it had a winner on its hands for “America’s Game of the Week,” which featured the 49ers and the Buccaneers playing one other. It was a battle dripping with suspense; from Tom Brady’s return to his hometown to Brock Purdy’s first start, it appeared to be a game set to catch the nation’s interest.
The game featured a showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But that didn’t quite work out the way they planned. Instead, Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and the rest of the team completely dismantled Tampa’s secondary.
As reported by Sporting News, at the beginning of the game, the Niners scored 35 points without receiving any answers, establishing themselves as the dominant team right away.
Because one of Fox’s crews was broadcasting another game that was more enjoyable, albeit less noteworthy, the network decided to cancel the Brady experiment. This decision was made because the other game was being televised. Fox made the decision to move on from the 49ers and Buccaneers game.
