Over 73,000 undocumented individuals evaded immigrant officials

Over 73,000 undocumented people were able to avoid immigration authorities in the month of November. Sources confirm that as of the first day of the 2023 fiscal year, there have been 137,000 gotaways.

The word “gotaways” is used by the Border Patrol to describe undocumented immigrants who are observed by cameras or border officials yet manage to evade detention.

Securing Border In Texas

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has committed to using all available means to protect his state’s borders. According to Sheriff Thad Cleveland of Terrell Area, Abbott’s Operation Lonestar has helped reduce the number of people and drugs being illegally brought into the county, News Nation Now reported.

ince Operation Lone Star’s inception in the spring of 2021, Abbott claims that authorities have apprehended and detained over 328,000 migrants and over 22,000 alleged criminals.

Cleveland claims the 720-person community has seen an improvement in traffic safety after the governor’s decision to increase the number of Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol officers.

He has made a record of the mayhem that was produced by the pursuits that swept through his county. It was reported by Cleveland that over the weekend, state troopers and sheriff’s deputies prevented four separate attempts at smuggling in a single day.

The day before, five other attempts to smuggle contraband were unsuccessful, which is a scenario that the sheriff claims occur far too frequently.

Immigration Policy In Texas

The fight over immigration policy moved from the Texas border to the Supreme Court.

As reported by KXAN, the court heard oral arguments on Tuesday in a lawsuit that challenges the Biden administration’s enforcement of immigration rules on the grounds that it improperly restricts the number of people who can be deported.

According to Texas, new recommendations given by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in 2021 propose that states prioritize deporting terrorists, other serious offenders, and individuals who have just crossed the border unlawfully. Limitations in personnel and materials were a driving force in developing the standards.
