Eligible citizens to receive first two social security checks this December

The Social Security Administration of the US Government declares that eligible citizens will receive their first two social security checks in the month of December.

When will citizens get their social security checks?

The social security drive has been the most effective anti-poverty initiative in US history. The criteria to obtain this facility varies as its purpose is to empower citizens in need, such as people with disabilities, aged, retired people, family members of deceased workers, and others.


As stated by the Social Security Administration, suitable US citizens will get their first check for social security within a week, on the 1st of December, and the second check on the 31st. The total payment of $1,755 will be made this year in two segments- $841 and $914. The Social Security amount is likely to hike in 2023, considering the higher cost of living.

People received the payment twice a month in April and September, adding the third month, December, in this category. It is to ensure that eligible citizens are getting the designated amount in 12 segments a year, per the US Government. Hence, double payment is possible in the upcoming months of 2023.

When U.S. Government issues Social Security Income Checks?

The monthly SSI checks get issued on the 1st of every month. If the 1st of any month falls on a weekend, the SSA issues the payment on the last business day of the previous month. It ensures that the beneficiaries get the amount on the 1st of every month. As 1st January 2023 is a holiday, the payment will be issued on 31st December 2022.

To apply for Social Security, one has to be 61 years and 9 months old. The person will receive the amount within four months of application only if eligible. People with disabilities or the family members of a deceased worker will receive the amount after five months of becoming disabled or dying.
