The Buffalo Bills confirmed earlier today that starting safety Micah Hyde would miss the rest of the 2022 campaign. In Week 2, Hyde was forced onto injured reserve after suffering a neck injury against the Tennessee Titans.
Later on Saturday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Jordan Poyer, the Buffalo Bills’ other safety, won’t be playing against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Due to a foot issue, Poyer was unable to participate in practise on Thursday and was limited on Wednesday and Friday.
Since both players joined the team in 2017, the Bills’ starting safeties have been a strong point of the defence. Both players have missed a total of just four games, and the Buffalo Bills won’t have either player on the field for the first time since the 2016 season finale.
Buffalo Bills will be lacking experience in the secondary
The secondary is severely lacking in experience going into this game against the Miami Dolphins as both starting safeties are now out in addition to cornerback Tre’Davious White (who has been on the PUP list) and cornerback Dane Jackson, who started in the second half of last season and the first two games of this year.
Taron Johnson will still be the Bills’ starting nickel, but Christian Benford, Kaiir Elam, Damar Hamlin, and Jaquan Johnson have combined for only three starts in the NFL. Benford, a rookie who started the first two games of the season, would be the most seasoned player in that bunch.
It will be fascinating to see how these players fare against one of the NFL’s most potent passing attacks this year. To support a young team, the Bills’ defensive line must play outstandingly well by reducing the amount of time Tua Tagovailoa spends in the pocket.
What happened to Jordan Poyer?, Micah Hyde won’t practice Thursday
As the Bills, secondary gets ready to take on Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and the rest of the Dolphin’s passing offense, it is coping with a number of injuries.
Safety Due to neck issues, Micah Hyde and cornerback Dane Jackson were forced to leave Monday night’s victory over the Titans. They did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Safety Jordan Poyer did participate in a small amount of practice, but according to head coach Sean McDermott, Poyer will now join Jackson and Hyde in not participating.
Poyer, who has a foot issue, might take a day off so that he can feel more fully recovered by Sunday. Participation in the practice on Friday will give some indication as to whether or not that is the case.
Jordan Phillips, a defensive tackle, is also out on Thursday due to a hamstring injury, but McDermott said everyone else on the roster will play.
Jordan Poyer Leaves Camp Practice, Needs Elbow MRI
What is the good news as training camp develops regarding the Buffalo Bills and safety Jordan Poyer’s contract situation? Both sides are making the proper arguments.
Is that terrible news? The injury occurred on Tuesday morning when the star defensive player was forced to abandon a training camp session due to what appeared to be an elbow problem. An MRI is apparently necessary in this case.
I hope the health issue is resolved, and I hope the contract is resolved as well.
Drew Rosenhaus, Poyer’s agent, has been present at training camp as Poyer, an unrestricted free agent following the season, looks for a new deal with the Bills.
According to Brandon Beane, general manager of the Buffalo Bills, “Drew and I have a wonderful relationship, as do we and Jordan, and Drew and I have had numerous chats.” “He came up here and did this to start camp, and it just so happened to work out for him, but we’re good. We adore Jordan, but I don’t talk about negotiations. I’d probably only be willing to brag about how amazing Drew is to work with.
