A man in San Antonio has been accused of inappropriately filming women at different businesses in the area, with the latest being an IHOP restaurant. He has been arrested and police say the man is believed to be a habitual offender, and there is a possibility of more victims.
Taymar Antonio-Elijah Jordan-Hamilton, 20, was charged with invasive visual recording following the latest incident that happened on July 23 at an area IHOP, Bexar County records show. He is booked at the Bexar County Jail and his bail was set at $20,000.
Talking about the recent incident, police said that a male and a female couple went to the restaurant at around 3.20 a.m. and saw Jordan-Hamilton at the parking lot. He apparently told the couple that the restaurant was closed. The couple still went inside, and before they got a table, they went to the restroom, the affidavit stated.
The woman was doing her business when she saw a hand underneath the bathroom stall door holding a cell phone, and the camera was pointing up. The woman screamed, and the person recording her ran out before the woman could get a look at him, police said. The woman then told her husband what happened in the restroom, so the man confronted the suspect, Jordan-Hamilton. It is unclear how the husband knew it was Jordan-Hamilton recording.
When the husband confronted Jordan-Hamilton, he apologized and said that he was just trying to clean the restroom. The husband contacted the night manager and asked Jordan-Hamilton to hand over his phone, or he would call police.
The affidavit stated, “The witness then stated that the defendant began apologizing and was pleading for the witness not to call the police because he did not want to go to jail.” Jordan-Hamilton even went as far as pleading on his knees, as seen on a surveillance video. The night manager persuaded Jordan-Hamilton to give his phone, and as the employee browsed through his gallery, he forcefully grabbed the phone, ran out, and drove away.
Fortunately, witnesses took a photo of his license plate number. When police checked out the license plate number, it was found connected with a separate, similar incident that took place on May 30 at a Walmart on Austin Highway.
In the earlier incident, Jordan-Hamilton was seen on surveillance footage “sneaking up behind” a 51-year-old woman and her son, police officers said.
He is said to have put his hand under the woman’s dress while holding a cell phone with the camera pointed upward, police said. Surveillance footage showed him exiting the store and driving off in a vehicle with the same license plate as the IHOP incident.
Police said the Walmart incident is still under investigation and they are awaiting results from a search warrant for his Apple iCloud storage.
During questioning, detectives said the suspect mentioned another incident where he dropped his cellphone near a woman and was confronted by her husband.
Police have asked the public for more information if they believe they know a victim or a victim of Jordan-Hamilton.
