In a new child sex abuse case, officials are asking witnesses to come forward if they have any information about it. Two people got arrested recently and officials believe there can be more crimes that are either similar to what they were arrested for or otherwise.
The case reportedly involves a three-year-old toddler. The people arrested in the case were identified as Timothy Derek Cassard and April Dorris, both in a romantic relationship. They are charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and remain behind bars. Their bail was set at $75,000 each. The two have a history of violence and drug use.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s Special Victim’s Unit said that the child showed signs of bruising. She also told caretakers what Cassard and Dorris did to her on multiple occasions. The child was taken in for a medical examination, and her injuries were consistent with what she disclosed to the caretakers.
The toddler also told detectives that she saw sexual acts being performed on another child, who was younger than she was and was too young to tell the attackers to stop. The toddler said she tried to stop them on his behalf. Records and officials did not disclose how the couple is related to the toddler in the case and the other child she was talking about.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office released a plea to the public, saying, “Detectives with the Special Victim’s Unit continue to investigate this incident and believe there are other witnesses who may have information concerning Cassard’s and Dorris’ involvement in similar or other types of crimes.” Those who have information can call Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at 800- 392-STOP (7867) and refer to case #20A009892.
