The plot of The Death on The Nile

plot death on the nile

In World War I, young Hercule Poirot devised a strategy to raise a company of Belgian infantry, but the Bulbee ships foiled his plans. His fiancee, nurse Catherine, doesn’t flinch but says he’s growing a moustache to hide his scars. In 1937, Poirot saw blues singer Salome Otterborn perform in a London club. He notices that Jacqueline “Jackie” de Bellefort is with her fiance Simon Doyle. Jackie’s childhood friend, heiress Lynnette Ridgeway, soon arrives. After meeting Simon, Lynette agrees to hire him as a real estate agent. Six weeks later, Poirot meets his friend Buck and Buck’s mother, the artist Euphemia, in Egypt. The book invites Poirot to a hotel to celebrate the wedding of a stunning couple, Linnette and Simon.

Others go on a honeymoon. Linnet’s maid, Louise Bourget; Salome and her niece and manager Rosalie, a school friend of Lynnette’s; Lynnette’s godmother, Marie Van Schuyler, and her assistant, Mrs Bowers; financial manager and Lynnette’s cousin Andrew Katchadourian; and Dr Linus Windsham. Linnet asks Poirot to protect the couple from the obsessive Jackie, who is following them in Egypt. Poirot can’t stop Jackie from showing that she has a gun.

Review of The Death on The Nile

reiview of death on the nile

One of Agatha Christie’s most well-known books, Death on the Nile, is a murder mystery with a love, jealousy, and betrayal theme. As a storyteller, Kenneth Branagh strives to bring a well-known author’s work to life on the big screen. This delicate but sluggish effort is less honourable than his earlier work (Murder on the Orient Express, 2017). He makes a few adjustments, but nothing ever turns out in his favour. Branagh goes slowly, but his never-ending compositions will keep you interested. By the time he gets around to telling the tale, you won’t be willing to participate in or commit to his probe.

This movie is solid in terms of camera and performance. Ali Fazal plays a vital role and defines his character Andrew. It also completely removes the British accent. Gal Gadot brings life to an otherwise obscure adaptation. Armie Hammer’s extra dark makeup seems excessive, but the entire ensemble cast works well, and that’s not a problem here. The opening scene, a sensual dance sequence, was shot beautifully. The camera follows the couple’s jealousy on the dance floor—sexual tension like passion, sweat and shadows.
