Visiting Teen Killed By Stray Bullet; No Arrest Yet

A heated confrontation involving several people resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy who was shot dead early Tuesday morning.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched to respond to multiple calls reporting an incident at the Gates of Capernum Apartments, at 8600 Waters Edge Drive around 3 a.m.

The initial investigation hinted at a fight inside an apartment unit. The quarrel seemed so intense that the fight ensued into a parking lot where the victim was reportedly shot.

However, responding officers were only able to find two wounded persons at the crime scene — the 15-year-old Tristan Jaden Rosas and another person believed to be in his 40s.

“We believe that he was just innocent in his apartment complex when he was struck. This is very tragic, especially with such a young man’s life lost, I can’t express my condolences to that family right now. We are investigating.. actively investigating this case,” said Officer Christopher Ramos, apparently referring to the teen victim who sustained a fatal gunshot wound on his head.

According to SAPD, the young casualty, who died while undergoing treatment, may have been just in his apartment when hit by a bullet. Police seemed convinced that the other victim may have been the one who had a fight. He is out of danger and recuperating in a hospital.

Interestingly, Rosas isn’t from San Antonio. According to the boy’s relatives, the minor who was in the area to visit them for the summer and was just playing video games when a bullet hit him.

An investigation into the case has been launched. “We will provide suspect information when it is available, but we don’t have suspects at this time,” Ramos quipped.
