Authorities in Richmond, Texas, said that a body was found in a car that was pulled out from Jones Creek on Monday morning while searching for 41-year-old Allison “Allie” Chapman Kempe who has been missing since Friday.
Authorities said the vehicle pulled out matched with the description of the vehicle that Kempe was last seen travelling in – a white 2020 Acura MDX. It is believed the body found in the vehicle is of Kempe even though a formal identification and the cause of death are yet to be ascertained, according to Fort Bend County deputies.
The water level in Jones Creek has significantly risen because of heavy rains last week. The vehicle became visible Monday after the water level receded, police said. Search parties found the car submerged in the creek at a distance of about 1,000 feet north of FM 359.
“The investigation of this tragic incident is on-going by our team,” said Sheriff Eric Fagan. “I request that your thoughts, prayers and respect for privacy be extended to Allison’s family during this difficult time.”
According to investigators, Kempe was last seen leaving a restaurant in the 6300 block of FM 1463 around 10.30 p.m. Friday and is believed to be heading towards her home in the Richmond area of FM 359 and FM 723.
She, however, never reached home.
Starting Saturday, Texas EquuSearch searched for Kempe, who has two sons aged 5 and 7 years, and her car in the water along FM 359 near the Jones Creek.
“We got one fact. She’s missing and been missing too long,” Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch had said on Sunday after the boat search was called off. “Part of the investigation is that her phone last pinged pretty close to this area, and she actually said she was in some water, and her car was taking on water.”
