Even though the Delta variant, a more contagious variant of COVID-19, is on the rise in Texas, the overall number of new coronavirus cases has remained stable.
According to a tiny sample of testing, the Delta strain is now five times more frequent than it was one week ago. It is currently thought to account for 10 to 20% of all cases in Texas.
COVID-19 Cases In Texas Stays Stable
On Wednesday, the state reported 1,400 new cases and 22 deaths.
“Because it spreads far more easily than the alpha version, also known as the UK variety, which was more transmissible than the original strain. It is quickly spreading throughout the United States and Texas. We know that some of those individuals will be hospitalized and eventually die, which will put pressure on our healthcare system” Dr. Jennifer Shuford, the state’s chief epidemiologist, stated.
According to the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, it should be left to local authorities to determine if masks are required to prevent the spread of the delta form.
Dr. Shuford stated that she has not yet discarded her masks and will keep them on hand just in case.
